Last night we played badminton and basketball. After a hard fought 5 setter doubles match (ok so the 4th set wasn't much of a fight... hahahhaha), 100+ and mao emerged victorious even though our racquets were no match for matlove and jianlong. But you see... racquets do not maketh the players. Haha, of course this only applies if we win. If we lost... the racquets would have been deemed the only possible reason for our downfall. Hah. Then we played 2 on 2 basketball, which was rather exhausting. So exhausting that writing about it feels like it will be exhausting too, so I will skip it.

Today most likely watching movie.... cannot take sports anymore (at least for today) if not I think my ankle will crack and my heel will split. Hahaha that's a rather horrible sight to imagine. Since watching movie, my mind decided to wake up earlier so that I can work harder in the day, but my eyes and body do not see to agree with that decision.

Regarding movies.... I have many favorites. Obviously this is because I watch way too many movies. You know you watch too much when you try to rent DVDs and it seems like the collection at every shop or counter is too small and lousy. Last time in Primary school I remember my teacher letting us watch Huang Feihong. It was hilarious. We should definitely include watching movies in curriculums, cos after watching that in school I began to like to watch chinese movies. There was one show called "Bian Lian Wang" -- aka "The King of Masks" which was an absolute tearjerker. I cried buckets (I actually cry quite easily while watching sad shows) while watching that cos it was so touching... the show was about (read below only if interested):

"Bian Lian Wang (Zhu Xu), the so-called King of Masks, a street performer whose magical ability to instantaneously switch between various facial coverings makes him a crowd favorite. A famous opera singer, Liang Sao Lang (Zhao Zhigang), is so impressed with the King's show that he asks to learn the old man's tricks. The King gently, but firmly, refuses, stating that "While my talents may be meager, only a son may inherit them." His family has a long tradition of passing their secrets from fathers to sons (no daughters). However, the King has no child - his only boy died at the age of 10, 21 years ago. So, to ensure that he has an heir, the King goes to a slave market where he buys Doggie (Zhou Ren-ying), an affable 8-year old. At first, the King is delighted by this new presence in his life - someone who readily calls him "grandpa." Then he learns he has been duped. The "boy" he purchased is actually a girl. One of the film's key themes is that, when it comes to companionship, initiative, and courage, daughters can yield the same benefits as sons. For a Western audience, this may seem like an obvious message, but, in the patriarchal Chinese culture of the era, male children were greatly prized, while females were not (one can argue at great length about how true that remains today). And, while The King of Masks falls far short of a cry for sexual equality, it nevertheless seeks to demonstrate the social shortcomings of the simple yet painfully shortsighted ideal of not valuing girls. It is, in fact, an act of extreme bravery and loyalty on Doggie's part that precipitates the movie's resolution. Would a boy have done as much? "

By the way I think Gambit is very cool leh. Although his power is not much to boast about, somehow there always seem to be wind around him to make his trenchcoat flap and to make his hair fly. Actually in Xmen everyone's hair is always flying. Cool lah card throwing. Like the "Shuang Tian Zi Zun" show on Channel 8 last time (The Unbeatables). Throw cards to kill people.... who the hell came up with that idea??!! Might as well throw carrots and celery.

I like to debate/discuss things with ppl...current affairs or transformers or what color powerade to drink also can. But it's not that easy to find ppl who don't make you feel like you have to agree with them, or who try and impose their opinions on you by throwing out all the reasons why they think they are right. Lucky don't have the problem now. :)

Summer is ending... it's the start of a new semester but how many times have we gone through that? Boo to "good times coming to an end". They better not.
