Living Water Group photo! Posted by Hello

Living Water Retreat 2005 So the theme was.... Living in the Light of Eternity. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

A weekend away from the hustle and bustle of life, from the distractions of the computer and msn and icq and email and phone calls and smses. A short trip to High Point Camp, where we got a small taste of what heaven might be like. Serenity, calmness, peace... and best of all, quiet time with God. The campsite itself was beautiful. Pastor Dan Ying spoke about living not for the present but for our eternal life. I've never really thought about heaven and hell and stuff like that, and I've always thought of this "don't cling onto worldly treasures" thing as something that's right to do, something that we as good Christians should do. But after listening to him, I really began to understand the futility of chasing after all these earthly idols. Like Steve said, one can go on thinking of many many analogies. Why do we wallow in the mud if we could go for a beach holiday, why drive an old truck if we could drive a ferrari... blah blah blah. Endless analogies.

Pastor also talked about greed. And I realize that all along, I associate greed with money. But greed can come in so many more forms than that. I'm greedy for time.... and love. I want more time to do my own stuff, I want people to show me love, but how ready am I to give of those things to others? Anyway, there's just so much more that I learnt at the retreat that I could possibly talk about. But maybe it's not that apt a topic to blog about, till the day I can say that I'm truly making use of those lessons in my life. Meanwhile... pics! (snatched from other ppls' albums)
